Collection: Floor Tiles

When tiling a floor start from a central point and work your way out to each corner, one at a time. You’ll want to be able to exit the room without walking across your freshly laid tiles, so plan to work into the further corners of the room first so that you finish by the door. If you’re tiling a room you’ll need to access regularly, such as a bathroom or kitchen, consider tiling one half of the room and then tiling the second half once this is dry. It’ll take a little longer but will allow the tiles to fix to the floor properly to give a hard-wearing surface.

To work out how many tiles you need, it’s useful to use a tile calculator, you will find this on each tile product page. You should gather the following information: dimensions of the area to be tiled and what size tile you would like to use. We give the option to add an extra 10% of tiles to your order, as measurements may not always be accurate and you may need extra tiles.

Firstly, begin by removing any dust from your tiles by using a dry mop or a vacuum cleaner and ensure all the surface is dust-free including the corners. Then use a mop and floor cleaner that is recommended for your style of tiles. Finally, dry your tiles using a microfibre cloth. Find our clean and care guide here.

Each type of stain, such as pen, make-up or grease, will need to be treated carefully. Use warm water and a soft nylon brush to remove stains in wet areas, wiping them in a circular motion. Stubborn stains may require more care. Read the clean and care guide here. 

Porcelain tiles are relatively thin compared to other hard flooring tiles, such as marble or travertine, allowing heat to rise through them quickly. Due to their insulating properties, they also retain heat effectively, ensuring the room stays warmer for longer.
